NK #1 lagging a lot lately.

I don't know if whomever has the server is still active (If I remember correctly it was Anal?).
But lately the DM server has been lagging during games a lot. I guess it might be cause of the popularity it has these days...

Anyway, if someone could take a look at it I would appreciate it.

I can't help it. Now on market there are only available virtual private servers - one machine shared to many users - cheap (15 - 25 EUR per month) but pathetic performance and dedicated servers - good performance but prices for acceptable machines starts from 80 EUR per month. Its to much for me for server kept only for Nexuiz and test purposes.

I've found someting cheap (about 25 EUR per month) but with good performance - unique hosting service called Real Private Server. Its my exclusive own server with shared net hard drive. But there is one problem - service was probably unprofitable and has been withdrawn from the market for new customers couple months ago. And they of ourse have more important things than taking care of a quality of a connection of the withdrawn service...

You could at least try it out on one of the servers to see if there is an improvement. Cause right now the #1 DM/TDM etc server is getting to be near unplayable.

Unplayable is an exaggeration. I was playing at least 2-3 hours every 2 weeks for last half a year. If there are beneath 6 players server nearly never lags. Sometimes if there are 8-10 players lagging is a bit annoying.

I appreciate your offer Synap but now I have no time at all to transfer the server. Its not only config file which of course I could send you in no time but server is compiled with at least spawnfrag protection changes.

This is first thing. Second is what machine do you have. Weak or strong - doesn't matter. On my server which has 2 cores Atom 2.6 GHz I could run 5-6 nexuiz servers which should work perfectly if net connection would suffice. At home I have quite old PC but still with its 4 2.6 Ghz Phenom cores is at least 3 times faster. But it is home PC. And I don't trust home machines. I have real server located at data center with 99,9% uptime guarantee, 100Mb connection and a bit unstable access time if there are many connections to server. If you have the same or better sever which improves the unstability thing than we could think about server transfer.

What was the problem?

I have no idea. The nex process just gone from the process list running on my server. Maybe some logs could help but I have no time to investigate it.

I dunno exactly how long I host nex servers but it is someting close to 2 years. During this period server has crushed the same way 2 or 3 times. It seems it is application problem not server problem which is still running and even other nex server is running.

You can send me the logs from maybe an hour before it crashed, maybe I can find out what happened. I have some suspicions because just a minute before the crash I kickbanned some idiots. Seems like kind of a funny coincidence
