migrate to nexuiz?

Hi NKs,

I was if we might migrate to xonotic. The ctf exile server looks and feels very nice.
I ask ctf players if we could give it a try? Especially as exile's shut down their nexuiz servers and dtg is dead.

I tried to play on exile xonotic server. I dunno. It's weird It's a little different than Nexuiz, and my gaming skills are poor
Maybe will be for some of us the problem with FPS. With my graphics card ( GeForce GTS 450 ) dropped to +/- 100 Fps and sometimes less

Yeah, ppl complain about performance. I have no problem - bought ASUS GTX 560 Top recently Radio has some low resolution settings though. But it's not the same experience.

My performance with Xonotic suck... but I have to admit I didn't try to strip the graphic to the bone. At the moment, though, with my ping maybe back into normal range again, I'm loving playing Nexuiz as it is. Yesterday we even had a couple of great CTF matches on good ol' DTG server

RocketMinsta for when I want to jerk around, CampingRifle for some aim practice, DM on our server when I want to get beaten badly and good old Minsta CTF when I like to get serious! As long as my ping stays "usable", I'm loving my Nexuiz. If all servers/players will disappear into Xonotic, I will follow (I think), but for now, I'm enjoying it as it is, even if I miss the eXile CTF server.

I tested Xonotic some months ago, and i dislike it.
We lost some performance and there is not a lot of players.

But i think i ll retest it

I dunno, may be I am a lucky one but on Exile xonotic server i have 30-60 ping and fps above 150. Besides, the movement seems much more powerful.

I might start trying it out, to play on eXile some "pure" CTF. So hard to find people for a game in pure Minsta+CTF these days in Nexuiz... we'll see. I won't be home for a long while, between work and a jump back in Milan to see my family, so I won't be playing either one really But I'll be back, sooner or later...

It's me about xonotic again. Do you know dtg migrated too? I played with Bart, pss and oxyd yesterday. Neo was there too. Why don't you give it a try?

Nexuiz ctf is almost dead: not everybody like RM, Dallas is far far away and the other site is lagging...

What do you think?

My point of view as DM player:
I've played on two servers. And my opinions about physics was:
1. Pathetic and of course totally unacceptable.
2. I don't like it but I could get used to. However most likely I rather stop playing than try to adapt.

point of view as server owner:
I've heard probably from Su "you can adapt physics nearly to whatever you like by manipulating config variables". Its probably true but there is hundreds of movement related variables you could set. I'm not 15 or 20 years old guy who has lot of spare time and could spend dozens or even hundreds hours developing good server for community. Nexuiz NK server I setup 3-4 hours to make it nearly indentical as today. Nexuiz has very well-balanced physics especially 2.5.2 release. Nothing need to be changed. Xonotic inbuilt physics sucks and need to be strongly altered.

Other things are my hosting abilities and server popularity. Our servers have never been so popular before. So I won't shut down them as long as I realize most of the time they are deserted. And it will take at least couple months. I also can't host Nexuiz servers and Xonotic servers simultaneously at least for next 3-4 months. Later, probably I will have stronger machine and it could be possible.

So when our Nexuiz servers become deserted and if somebody of us playing Xonotic will obtain server configuration he claims has good physics I could setup Xonotic server and migrate as a player. But I also need to know I don't do it for some anonymous people. I don't want to play as some anonymous guy or a member of unknown clan without own server and/or with unknown never seen members. We are one of the oldest generally liked and respected clan which is still alive. And we are also a bunch of friend who not only played but also spent dozens of hours talking with each others. And it could not change or migrating make no sense at all. At least in my opinion.

By no means I wanted you to shut down the DM server. I know it's very popular. I myself play on it sometimes (perhaps Sex Instructor didn't even notice a noob with nick doc a couple of days ago. My point is that the ctf servers nexuiz has are not satisfactory nowadays. More and more players more and more often switch to xonotic. As for the physics, for me it's not important. The only physics I hate is RM, but still sometimes I play there...

I know mate you didn't mean to shut down DM server. I've just said I won't migrate as long as we don't have own Xonotic server and this is impossible for at least next 3-4 months and later it depends on possessing good configuration.

Its true that Nexuiz CTF is deserted and RM servers could frustrate. I've never treated myself as CTF player but there was 2-3 months period I played CTF not less than DM and sometimes I was on top of score board even with presence of CTF clans players. But on RM server I can't hit a thing

And this is the reason physics for me is important. I adapt weeks to be good and months to be very good. Its frustrating when your accuracy get down from 60% to 30% or even less. And also additionaly annoying is if movements are accelerated (not linear) to be more smooth. I hate to shot to rubber balls. So some physics are too annoying to have enough patience to adapt.

BTW. Sex Instructor? I don't know what you are talking about This guy half of the time is second or even third on score board. This noob couldn't be me

I tried to play some time on DTG Xonotic server, but I have a huge problem with FPS I dunno why. The average is around 60, and it makes me low.On the Nexuiz CTF servers I have about 300-500.There is almost no difference when it is set to high or high quality. Can anyone advise me what's the problem?Under these circumstances, is Xonotic unplayable for me

I have tested too, and play on DTG CTF server, no great problem for me, for your problem M@RA i have no idea. Sorry.
But with xonotic i can't change the resolution of the screen size without freeze of my computer lol.

Xonotic is a nice Game,
but i miss the performance of Nexuiz.


anyway i am missing the performance of Nexuiz 2.3 ^-^
